On 21st September 2006, Africa Christian Youths Development Foundation in partnership with Teachers Without Borders-Nigeria and Peace One Day will sponsor a “Special Community Gathering for Peace” to mark the United Nations International Day of Global Peace.
The project will provide participants with direct practical experiences in peace building through learning, observation, shared experience and service initiatives that emphasis collective social involvement and participation in decision making, community development, interfaith dialogue and peace. The celebration will facilitate the creation of a “brotherhood” of peace builders, leaders and change makers, who will continuously share stories of their experiences with their peers and communities in the form of discussions and practical social initiatives.
The celebration aims at promoting a strong and committed positive response to community and peace building, especially by young people who are “Custodians of the Future”. The celebration will emphasize those aspects of our faiths, culture and education that promote and encourage young people’s participation in peace building and community development.
