The Youth Media Program is for participants from the ages of 15-18. They will be trained and equipped to produce short, youth-focused news segments that can be heard, and viewed by a large international audience via the International Debate Education Association website. For more information please visit the program's website.

The IDEA Youth Media Program will be a two week workshop aimed at creating lasting relationships between young adults and communities worldwide. The workshop will be available to students between the ages of 15-18 and will provide a unique opportunity to be a part of an international collaboration.

The hope of this first ever two week IDEA Youth Media Training is to encourage students to find important, interesting, and globally relevant stories in their own communities, or those in other regions of the world, and then give them the skills and the platform to share these stories with their peers from all over the world.

During the training program in Romania, teams of student newsmakers will be shown how to pitch, prepare, and report stories on a wide range of topics: everything from regional political issues, to family and community history, personal profiles and lifestyles. Students will also be given the opportunity to become familiar with a variety of open source computer technologies and recording equipment. During the long term, the Youth Media Program will provide students opportunities for enrichment in cultural exchange, journalism, technology, photography and education.

In addition, this program will offer an intensive study in photo journalism that is intended as a springboard to teach students the analytic, investigative, and narrative skills necessary to produce photographic essays that speak volumes through images. Similar to the news stories portion, the photo journalism aspect of the Youth Media Program is meant to give students the skills and platform to share their stories through pictures. The final photo essays of the students will be presented on www.idebate.org.
