YouthPolitik is a new and innovative program, designed in partnership with the City of Vancouver, Park Board, School Board, Library and youth community, for youth ages 14-19 living in Vancouver.
Up to 100 young citizens will be involved in an intense series of fun events, workshops and skills building activities, concluding in a City Council session in the last week of November 2006. Youth will be matched with elected officials, learn about Council processes, debate topics of interest, and plan to take action in their communities. This will be an opportunity for young citizens within Vancouver to become further engaged in municipal government and have input on civic issues.
The goals of the program are to increase awareness of civic issues and create additional opportunities to meaningfully involve Vancouver youth in municipal government.
Applications for the YouthPolitik 2006 initiative are now being accepted and are due on Friday, October 13.
