In recognition of World Food Day on October 16th, the Oxfam Toronto Local Committee will host a Hunger Banquet at the St. Lawrence market on Wednesday October 18. World Food Day is an annual campaign of Oxfam Canada, oriented around highlighting international structures, and systems that contribute to world hunger and global food insecurity. Our key objective is not only to increase awareness, but engage Canadians in taking actions to reduce hunger and poverty locally and internationally.
This year we are exploring issues that involve Women, HIV/AIDS and Food Insecurity. As the center of the home and often the sole provider, the inclusion of women has been an area of concern that Oxfam Canada would like to present as our theme for this year’s World Food Day.
