Collage has a vast spectrum of opportunities to create whatever you want! You use things from the world around you to represent ideas, dreams, political statements, almost anything, and it essentially carries a sense of irony. We will try our hand at working with "found" objects, photomontage, poetry, and many other forms of collage in two hours of fun and creatively stimulating experimentation. Looking at the works and lives of artists such as Kurt Schwitters, Pablo Picasso, Max Ernst, and other innovators will increase your awareness in daily life and inspire you. It would be appreciated if you brought in materials such as old magazines, newspapers, postcards, etcetera.
"Collage reflects the very way we experience the world, with objects given meaning not from something within themselves, but rather through the way we perceive they stand in relationship to one another." - Brian Robertson
About the facilitator: Karis Malszecki has both extensive formal and informal visual art training. Having a mother as a professional visual artist and participating in many art events (such as mural painting) she considers herself quite experienced in the arts.
