THEME:
“DEMANDING CHANGE FOR SUSTAINABLE PEACEFUL AFRICAN DEVELOPMENT”
This meet is designed to help increase the focus of about 500 students and youth in cultivating a culture of proactive methods of peace building and project sharing start-ups through various methods of looking at issues in depth and sharing of information, in sights and good practice on conflict resolution, peace-building and a range of other development related issues.
Essentially the trainees after the meet shall become the proponents and trainers to other students, youth and communities in peace building and strategies of crisis management. It is envisaged that a mechanism shall be developed that will monitor and assist the start-ups of nucleus projects, cells and networks in peace-building.
SUBJECTS TO COVER
• Conflict management and strategic planning – case study of the Niger – Delta crisis in Nigeria,
• Terrorism & Globalization: Case study of the Middle East, Europe, Africa & America (9/11),
• Conflict as process - Peace Building & Peace making. Attitude to conflict,
• Poverty, Human trafficking, HIV and AIDS – its effect on Peace Building,
• Tools for resolving conflicts – principles of mediation, negotiations, dialogue & communication.
• United Nations systems, rule of law, good governance & citizens rights.
• Student World Assembly a brain child of World Assembly – its philosophy of Peace Education & Peace building, setting up of SWA chapters – fund Raising & management.
There shall also be pleasure trips and site seeing of some historic land marks of the old city of Ile – Ife. |
