An “Extreme Makeover-Sarnia Edition” is coming to the home of Dan Edwards, the St. Christopher Catholic Secondary Student who suffered a spinal cord injury last August, which has left him paralyzed form the waist down.
“We are extremely pleased to announce the formation of the Do it for Dan Fundraising and Organizing Committee,” says Andy Brandt, a former Sarnia Mayor and MPP, “The Edwards’ family’s faith in God and in each other has inspired all of us. We want to do what we can to make it possible for this young man to return home.”
The committee’s mandate is to provide fundraising support to the Edwards’ family. Fundraising activities will pay for renovations to the family home, which will provide personal space for Dan. Specialized equipment to meet his transportation needs will also be purchased.
The committee has been formed by a group of local concerned citizens who are committed to assisting the Edwards’ family. The committee has been endorsed by the Edwards family and will be guided by a constitution. A trust fund will be managed by the law firm George, Murray, Shipley and Bell.
Contributions will be welcomed from all service clubs, committees and private individuals and can be made to the Dan Edwards Trust Fund at branches of the CIBC or Royal Bank. It is anticipated that in the future, additional banking institutions will be accepting donations.
A financial target of $150 000 has been set.
