As one of the commitments of UN General Assembly during the Tunis 2005 WSIS conference, May 17 was designated as WSIS Day by the UN. It is a day for countries to take stock of their achievements of WSIS 2005 Action Lines.
CPA, I-Network Uganda and LIIDA are partnering with the Ministry of ICT to mark this day with an event such as a public dialogue or symposium with an ICT4D Exhibition. The exhibition will be an opportunity to showcase to the public Uganda’s achievements since WSIS 05 and for players in the ICT arena to meet and network as they review their Action Lines as part of MDGs the awareness campaign in Uganda.
Lead agencies: ICT Ministry, I-Network Uganda, CPA Uganda & LIIDA
Other key stakeholders: UNDP, UCC, FRK Communications.
Purpose:
To help raise awareness of the possibilities that the use of the internet and other ICTs can provide and to accelerate the pace of development
Activity: Public Dialogue & ICT4D Expo (Exhibition)
Theme: “Achieving MDGs, the contribution of ICTs; Public- Private Partnerships between the Civil Society and Government”
