Miss Environment is an annual Event organized by the Friends of the Nature Sanctuary with an aim of promoting gilt participation and raise awareness in environmental conservation and management issues. FNS started organisining the Event in 2003. Participants to the event are from different educational institutions in Lilongwe district. Since its inception, the Miss Environment Crown has been won by four people from four schools. On average each of the events that we held in the past four years attracted an audience of one thousand (1000) People.
Though the Miss Environment Concept sounds more of a beauty pageant, it isn’t. It just derived from the beauty pageant to attract more people to the show so that we can ably present our message(s)
During the Event girls do not just do the catwalk, they do some discussions on the years` theme; spread the messages through singing, reciting poems and many others. This was done just to make sure that we are still in line with the theme and not concentrating much on the beauty pageant
