Name of the Open Forum: Millennium Development Goals Montréal, Québec
Specific issues that the Open Forum will focus on:
We would like to sensitize the youth population about the Millennium Development Goals. This interactive forum seeks to discuss the 8 Millennium Development Goals (MDG). At the United Nations Millennium Development Summit in 2000, 189 heads of nations pledged to eradicate poverty by 2015 (visit www.millenniumcampaign.org for more information). The forums are intended to raise awareness about the MDG and help youth develop local strategies for to promote the MDG in our community.
Rationale for holding this Open Forum:
We all need to play a part in supporting the MDG, particularly in "developed" countries. We need to find strategies locally to tie into large-scale efforts.
Goals the organizer hopes to achieve by holding this Open Forum for youth in the community:
This open forum seeks to educate and sensitize youth about the MDG and open a space for critical thinking and discussion. We hope to find strategies that can be implemented locally to support the MDG.
