Name of the Open Forum: People and Places
Specific issues that the Open Forum will focus on:
Youth restiveness in the Niger-delta. The present dilemma is that we the people of a once peaceful and hospitable environment are facing is a sore that can only take the young and the old to heal. Enough is enough! The recent happenings in Bayelsaa state in regards to the security of lives and property has been linked to brutality and violence in the state. Therefore, our own lives and those of our families and loved ones are at stake, it could happen to anyone, even you. So in one voice, we say no to violence and say yes to peaceful co-existence. The issues to discuss are:
(1)eradication of violence in the Niger-delta.
(2)creating a peaceful democratic environment to foster peace, progress and unity in the Niger-delta
(3)diplomatic dialogue: to end bloodshed in the Niger-delta.
Rationale for holding this Open Forum:
In order to portray the fact that we the people of the Niger-delta need to hide our differences, shun violence, militancy and look forward to how we can harness our resources by living in unity and harmony.
Goals the organizer hopes to achieve by holding this Open Forum for youth in the community:
(1)to provide quality and sound information on the reasons why we should all be anti-violent.
(2)to create awareness in order to solve the problem of hostage taking in the Niger-delta.
(3)to empower the youths for positive change making.
Language in which the Open Forum will be held: English' |
