Trust: The Leadership Challenge for the Next Generation
The programme is designed for participants to build closer ties within the GLT community, to engage in new Forum activities, to work with experts to enhance leadership skills and to share knowledge on critical business, political and societal trends. Roughly 130 GLTs are expected to take part in the two-and-a-half day meeting that is built around three specially tailored modules: the GLT Expo Bazaar, the Adaptive Leadership Workshop and the 2003 Global Issues Brainstorming.
The overall programme has been created and developed with the assistance of Richard Pascale, Visiting Fellow at the University of Oxford, United Kingdom; Ronald Heifetz, Director of the Leadership Education Project at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, USA; and Lee Howell, Senior Advisor to the US Agency for International Development.
GLT Expo Bazaar: This will be an opportunity for participants to share knowledge and to leverage the GLT community as a resource for various new projects. A number of GLTs will present their projects in a trade show environment to solicit the input and feedback of their peers.
Adaptive Leadership Workshop: Ron Heifetz and other experts will work with GLTs on enhancing leadership skills by introducing concepts such as "leadership vs authority" and "technical problems vs adaptive challenges." Participants will have the opportunity to discuss recent leadership dilemmas and to apply adaptive leadership techniques in various situations.
2003 Global Issues Brainstorming: GLTs will take part in facilitated brainstorming exercises to analyze from a generational perspective the key global issues in 2003 that are likely to shape next year's Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland, as well as other Forum activities. Topic areas include integrating development concerns in international trade negotiations, improving corporate leadership, building successful public-private partnerships and restoring confidence in the international financial markets.
