Niger/Delta crisis......Issue 1 - Publicado por: Ritchie
The unfolding events of the Niger/Delta crisis represents both challenges for President YaruDua regime and opportunities to procuring lasting solutions to the violence ridden region as well as serious threats to the continuity of the corporate Nigerian state.Nigeria is presently playing a significant role in the OPEC oil Block and with unrest in the Gulf of Guinea, Nigeria crude oil supply have risen to an incredible height that she has recorded a landmark profit from the oil Sector in the recent time. The PUNCH Newspaper 12th-18th, 2008 submitted that Nigeria record huge profit to the tune of $55bn just last year. But several international agencies fielded that Nigerians are still berthing in institutionalized poverty anointed by corruption of their public officers.
The 2008 budget, the first by the Yarudua Administration, shows the hype on dependence of the oil sector and paralleled out how fragile the Nigerian State stand on lone leg driven economy. Every other sector of the economy is in a sorry state, even, the international community that depends so much on the Nigerian Oil supply are having sleepless night as the time-bomb in the Niger/Delta keep ticking away in frustration or blank neglect. Imagine a total of N1,986 trillion, 80% is coming from the oil sector of the total budget. Someone already declared that this great black populous Nation is a 'fragile state'... as insensitivity to those things that will trigger a National turmoil is inevitable should rain of bullets and missiles continue in the very region producing this expected projection .
The counter play of events in the Nation have majors repercussions in the entire Gulf of Guinea. Little wonder why the USA military are embarking on strategic synergistic mission under the umberalla of AFRICOM. This is a significant indicator that the Oil producing region of the country is wielding unmatchable influence in the international oil market. The AFRICOM is here to help foster peace around the West Sub-Sahara with major emphasis on Nigeria. This alone should inform the position and interest of the Nigerian Federal Government towards working out a sustainable master plan - development formula for the region. The international implications of the volatility of Nigeria's oil rich region is perceive in its definite influence on the international oil market.
The hike in the oil price in December, 2007 hit the $100 mark making Nigeria go home celebrating, but this does not have a direct correlation to the improvement of Standard of living of the oil producing communities. No wonder the violence somehow assumed a new order of dealing with the perceived exploiters/destroyers of these communities. The greater percentage of man power, potentials and energies trapped down by this socio-political conundrum is the young people at the grassroots. Should we close our eyes and watch with fever and frustration while our own friends disadvantaged by geographical positioning suffer to death?......... watch out next issue on this:

Who Else Benefits? Aged Youth or Young at heart - Publicado por: Bless4real
It would be a mistake to assume that the only benefits from partnerships accrue to youth. Adults and the organizations in which partnerships operate also benefit from youth adult partnerships. Adults:
• Experience the competence of youth first hand and begin to perceive young people
as legitimate, crucial contributors.
• Find their commitment and energy enhanced by working with youth.
• Feel more effective and more confident in working with and relating to youth.
• Understand the needs and concerns of youth, become more attuned to programming
issues, and gain a stronger sense of connection to the community.
• Receive fresh ideas from different perspectives.
• Reach a broader spectrum of people.
• Develop more relevant and responsive programming and services.
• Share knowledge.
• Increase creativity.
• Break down stereotypes about both youth and adults

Today's Program Was Educative - Publicado por: Motivating Mohammed
I really enjoyed the program today since it's been very interactive and information. This once again has given me the chance to strive more and become more even in the political arena.
I hope for more educative and transformative session on Friday. I want to say that we all should try as much as possible to use what we've learnt to affect the lives of others.
