EVENT : Your Papers Please: What the Real ID Act Means for American Values

Join the New York Society for Ethical Culture, the New York Alliance Against the Real ID Act and the New York Civil Liberties Union for a forum on the Real ID Act.

New York was the first state in the country to sign a contract with the Bush Administration to implement a national identity card. Join a group of experts including Udi Ofer of the New York Civil Liberties Union, Jim Harper of the Cato Institute and New York State Sen. Eric Schneiderman, (D-Upper West Side) as they discuss what a national ID card would mean in New York.

● What does a national ID card mean for New Yorkers’ privacy?
● Would spending millions of security dollars on a national ID card make us safer?
● What can New Yorkers do to stop the Real ID Act?
