CALL FOR MEMBERSHIP AND CANDIDATURE
Dear African Youth, the Federation of Young African Greens – FYAG is about to blossom. FYAG is a Regional African structure of the Global Young Greens (GYG: http://www.globalyounggreens.org). The interim Steering Committee (SC) of FYAG, which was created in Nairobi 2007, will be organising an all African Conference. This conference will bring together all young persons, organisations or associations of youth, etc. that believe in the advancement of the African continent, with respect to the Greens Charter.
If you identify yourself as such, note that, this call for membership and participation concerns you directly. In case you know of any African group, exercising within this domain, please do not hesitate to pass on this call to them.
The FYAG conference is scheduled to hold along side and International Youth Conference built for November 2008 in Cameroon, tagged:
The International African Youth Conference on Environment and Sustainable Development, will be organised in complementary with the First FYAG conference.
This FYAG conference is aimed to;
Strengthen FYAG by adopting its guiding principles, statues and statement of policy.
Equally, to augment FYAG membership and to create a permanent steering structure
Finally, to identify and mandate persons to help in the creation of sub regional structures of FYAG.
Objectives of the International conference include;
To bring together African youth to brainstorm on major pertinent issues relating to the struggle for environmental sustainability and development in Africa.
To discuss various national strategies of intervention, to learn best practices and share experiences.
To develop appropriate mechanism for effective Youth – Government engagement
To propose an effective co-ordination of youth efforts towards addressing issues of environment and development in Africa.
To build a platform of cooperation between African Youth, African Union and NEPAD on the issue of environment and sustainable development.
Thematic working Groups
♠ Pollution and Environmental Sustainability
♠ Africa and her Response to Climate Change
♠ Gender, Inclusiveness and Development
♠ Strengthening and Building an African Young Greens Framework
Each participant will be required to do self fundraising as limited funds are available for the organisation of the event. FYAG will be responsible for local transport, lodging and meals of participants. However, FYAG could support some participants partially, taking into account some very pertinent issues. You can apply by attaching an appeal for partial sponsorship (not more than 500words), with your application.
