The problem of dowry and bride-burning and or torture is very huge. A massive national effort will be required to stop this carnage in India. There is urgent need to convince the national leaders of India to implement the plans and programs.
According to the official report of the Crime Bureau, Home Ministry, Government of India, about 7,000 brides are burnt to death every year in India over dowry disputes. The "unofficial" number of dowry death will be double. In addition to stark dowry-death, there are equal number of brides are beaten so mercilessly over dowry disputes that they become invalid for the rest of their lives. This conference will focus on these issues.
