DetailsAbout
Hear Mike Skinner, postal worker and CUPE member, speak of his trip to that country, and his conclusions on the topic.

In the summer of 2007, Michael Skinner joined Afghan-Canadian Hamayon Rastgar on a tour of Afghanistan where they listened to working class Afghans, students, academics, and opposition political leaders.

Skinner concludes Canada's war in Afghanistan is not an altruistic war about liberating Afghans and certainly not Afghan women. Canada's partnership in the US-NATO-ISAF alliance is instead motivated by economics and geopolitics.
A few businesses will reap the economic spin-offs from this war as Canada manoeuvres itself into a favourable position in America's New World Order.

Michael Skinner is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Political Science, and a member of the Afghanistan Canada Research Group (ACRG). He is a postal worker and a member of CUPE 3903 at York as a teaching assistant.

Sponsored by the International Solidarity Committee of the
Ottawa and District Labour Council
