In celebration of Global Youth Service Day,Changes has partnered with other youth led groups and Faith based organizations to organize a one week Expedition service camp.The event theme is 'SERVICE FOR CHANGE'. During this event 350 young people will collectively participate and engage in community service in all divisions of Kiambu East and Kiambu West Districts.The activities of the event will include,clean ups,tree planting and community sensitization on environmental conservation and HIV/AIDS.We expect to plant 7000 seedlings in public areas where scouts can easily take care of them.The event will be flagged off at Madaraka gardens-Kiambu on Sunday 20th April 2008 at 2:00pm by the District Commissioner.Participants will then hike to Banana Town(about 10km)where they will camp at Karuri High School.For the event program please contact us.
The climax of the event will be marked by making a donation to Kamburu Disabled Persons Group during the closing ceremony at Githunguri Stadium.We are calling on youth to make any contribution in kind or cash towards supporting this group.The contribution is being coordinated by scouts through their scout leaders.Wrist bands are available at Ksh. 50
Participation in the camp is open to young people aged (14-26 years)who enjoy camping,adventure and hiking and can endure strenuous activities.For equal representation each Division will be providing 55 participants.Participation fee is Ksh.500 per person.Registration is taking place through Divisional representatives.For those youth will not be able to be in the expedition team,they are invited to join in the events that will be taking place in their immediate neighborhoods.All are invited to the closing Ceremony on Sunday 27th at Githunguri Stadium starting from 11:00am.Key leaders of the two districts will address youth. |
