This LfA is the third in a rich on-going series of educational programs aiming to promote dialogue and discovery around rich practices and community development experiences, in this case those contending with post-war reconstruction efforts. Recent years have seen major regions of the world involved in wars and internal or external conflicts. As we enter the 21st century it is important that we look forward and begin to appraise new and evolving approaches to conflict prevention, conflict resolution and post-conflict reconstruction. Involving citizens and the civil society in the peace-building process is becoming an indispensable strategy to build sustainable peace.

Pioneers of Change
Having launched the network in Mexico in January 1999, we currently number approximately 1500 in 70 countries. Three pioneers work full time as part of a Cultivation Unit [the coordinating team], based in Johannesburg, South Africa and Boston in the USA.
