A new social entrepreneur training in Järna, Sweden, for youth aged 18 to 25 who want to create a positive social change in the world. – A course in how to bring your own initiative into being.
KNOW YOURSELF AND THE WORLD
You will work along side experts from best practices, businesses, organizations and social initiatives. This will give you an understanding of the big picture: The world situation, global society and the challenges we are facing today.
Throughout the year you will get skills in leadership, facilitation, self-management and contemplation, helping you to put your initiative into action.
Artistic activities will train your personal creativity; allowing for self-development and digestion of theoretical subjects as well as gaining practical artistic skills.
HANDS-ON EXPERIENCES
How do you bring your own initiative into reality? A good start is experiencing how others do it, applying what you have learned. As well as daily work in and around the Järna community, four weeks of the year will be spent abroad, taking part in the work of an existing socially and environmentally sustainable project or organization. You will also take part in daily community engagements in and around Järna.
Through internships and civil service engagements, learned skills are put straight into practice. The process and results will be recorded and certified through a Portfolio. At the end of the year this will serve as a documentation of your YIP year in addition to the Swedish Folk High School diploma.
THE LOCATION
Järna is a rural village not far from Stockholm, Sweden. Numerous initiatives, businesses and organizations have established themselves in and around the place through the last 50 years.
It is an amazing and inspiring landscape of peoples visions put into action. Each of the places, be it the biodynamic farms, the curative homes, the alternative bank, the Mill, or the cultural centre have an exemplary character in and of themselves, but in Järna these are all situated in a radius of about 10 km.
The YIP will happen in the middle of all this – a great potential for an unprecedented experience.
