PURPOSE OF THE TRAINING
This training is mainly focused on:

 Introducing participants to the concepts of conflict, peace and development;
 build up participants’ understanding of the nexus between conflict, peace and development;
 coming up with mechanisms for strengthening linkages and networks for peace and development in Africa.

OVERALL OBJECTIVE
The overall objective of the training is to develop and enhance the skills of youths in understanding the prevention, management and resolution of conflicts and how that impacts on peace and development in their communities.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
 To develop a critical understanding of the concepts of conflict, peace and development and the nexus between them;
 To develop the capacity of youths working in the areas of conflict and peace in Africa;
 To come up with practical and sustainable approaches to peace and development issues which confront the African continent;
 To share experiences on successful peace initiatives in Africa and how that has impacted on development within the continent.

EXPECTED OUTCOME
Through the Regional Training for Youth on Conflict, Peace and Development, CPIA aims at expose youths to key theories, concepts and analytical frameworks used in understanding conflict, peace and development processes. The intention is to mobilise Youth in various activities that promote peace and development within their communities. In this endeavour, it will be important to enhance their skills in conflict analysis as well as the various approaches to peace and development in Africa.
