I really like this effort to make each and everyone of us realize the importance of issues that are challenging our social setup and also the need and possibilities of addressing them.

The day was welcomed with various articles and stories to depict poverty and generate reaction towards the issue in as much as all bloggers in sphere could go. The day is still young and more articles are still tripping into the bloggosphere.

Changing the Priorities of our World!
One blogger described Blog Action Day 2008 as an opportunity for “Creating Infectious Action” in Poverty Alleviation in our World!
Another summed up the aim of Blog Action Day 2008 as “to strengthen public understanding of the causes and consequences of poverty and hardship around the world; and to encourage research, discussion and action to address these problems.”
Changing the Priorities of our World
The United Nations Millennium Development Program has made Poverty Alleviation the top priority for our World. The 6 Billion Voices campaign seeks to mobilize the people of the World for Poverty Alleviation.
Across the globe, Poverty Alleviation Campaigns have taken root in most countries. In Canada, the Make poverty History Campaign has mobilized the Canadian community into transforming living conditions for the poor.
The aim of these global campaigns is redeploy the use of the World’s limited resources to building conditions of Peace through Poverty Alleviation.
Blog Action Day 2008
Blog Action Day 2008 propels the campaign to effect the redeployment of the use of the World’s limited resources to funding Poverty alleviation programs and Peace building.
It is estimated that over 10,000 Bloggers made their case to an audience of over 18 million around the World.
Bloggers acting as Advocates, presented information on many aspects of Poverty and ways to help the Poor to achieve sustainable livelihoods.
1. There was overwhelming agreement that Poverty is a huge issue facing our world!
2. There was general agreement that WE CAN MAKE A DIFFEERENCE OURSELVES” in Poverty Alleviation. “We can help by donating to international development agencies, lobbying governments to support the UN Millennium Development Goals, and through raising awareness and commitment from people in Canada and all around the world.”
3. Many Blogs presented detailed information on ways each one of us can help the Poor and the Working Poor directly.
The Road Ahead
Besides the many pathways out of poverty identified, there is the need for new service delivery infrastructure to assist the Poor to access financial support programs available to them in my countries of the world.
Similarly, the role of the Law in Poverty Alleviation must be recognized and promoted. For as the
UN Commission on Legal Empowerment of the Poor said:
Through the “convergence and …..synergy (of access to justice and the rule of law, property rights, labour rights and business rights), legal empowerment of the poor achieved.
