I wanted to let the TakingITGlobal community know about an event that is certainly of greatest interest for all members, but in particular for SWISS YOUTH:
The EUforIA Youth Summit 2008 (EYS’08 – www.euforiaction.org/eys08) will take place in less than three weeks, October 17th-19th, in Geneva, and bring together young students from all across Europe and Switzerland that are just like YOU interested in global issues.
What makes this event so special and valuable is the fact, that it is the expression of a feeling of discontent among our generation with the way the world is portrayed in the media at present: We get constants “news” about how the UN Millennium Development Goals won’t be reached, how climate change gets worse every day and how many people were killed in the last terrorist attack.
This event was organized because we do no longer want to talk about problems and what is all bad in this world, but about personal challenges and what we can do to make a difference. In workshops, speeches, panel discussions, group work sessions and even during a movie screening and a party the participants of this event will exchange themselves about possible commitments and solutions to today’s most pressing global challenges.

If you haven’t got any plans for the weekend of the 17th-19th yet, you simply can’t miss this event! I’m sure it will not only be very interesting for you, but also a whole lot of fun and you’ll get to know tons of incredibly interesting people from all across Europe and Switzerland!
And if you don’t feel like you can/want to pay the application fee (100Sfr), then please write in general comments, that you’re willing to pay 50 Sfr (all delicious food/drinks during the event are included, so it’s not like you would spend more money!). ok? But really only if you need the $$$, because we need them too ;)
