We invite you to join us for the 8th Global Conference on National Youth Service from 19-22 November 2008 in Paris, France. This conference is an exciting opportunity for practitioners, policymakers, and researchers to discuss the potential for scaling up national youth service for greater impact on community and youth development.
The conference is hosted by the IANYS secretariat, Innovations in Civic Participation (ICP), in partnership with Unis-Cité and the Association of Voluntary Service Organizations (AVSO). Conference participants will include IANYS members and other professionals in the field of youth civic engagement from across Europe and around the world. The location of the conference is the Fondation des Etats Unis at the Cite Universitaire in Paris.
The Conference will take place over the course of 4 days and will include an optional session on policy and program development and a combination of plenary sessions, round table presentations, smaller workshops, and a service project. Round table sessions will address issues of scaling up programs, measuring program impacts, social inclusion, and service-learning. Smaller workshops will be offered on a variety of topics including meeting critical community needs through service, developing regional networks, comparing program models, stimulating private sector investment, and building a research agenda around youth service.
Throughout the conference, participants will have the opportunity to examine current issues in national youth service policies and programs, identify best practices and lessons learned, and develop strategies for promoting and implementing more effective national youth service policies and scaling up existing programs for greater impact.
