Dear Friends,
A Global Youth Tobacco Awareness Campaign , involving School-Children and Youth of all countries across the Globe, had recently been organised by me and launched globally ::
1. to sensitize the School-Children / Youth about the ill-effects of Tobacco and then collect 10 million "Signatures against Tobacco" across all countries in cloth Banners.
2. to stitch them into running Banners
3. to display them encircling the 14th WCTOH Venue at Mumbai during March 2009.
-- to get permission from WCTOH Organising Committee and Mumbai Local Authorities
4. to finally hand over them to UNO Secretary General thro WHO Director General urging them to save the Global Youth from Tobacco
- to obtain permission - Date & Venue to be fixed.
The Project is named as "G-BAT 10x10" - standing for "GLOBAL BATTLE AGAINST TOBACCO" with 10 MILLION SIGNATURES and displaying them to a minimum distance of 10 KM.
In support of the above Global Campaign, John Tung Foundation of Taiwan took the lead with the support of the Taiwan Government, Taiwan Schools & many young
popular celebrities. They have launched the Campaign on 26th May 2008 in 165 Schools and Colleges in Taiwan.
Accordingly, more than a hundred and fifty thousand (150,000) youths in Taiwan have joined this Global "anti-tobacco signature campaign" to call for a Global tobacco-free
society. Students were invited to put their names and anti-tobacco statemnts on the Banners to show their support to the Campaign. In three months, JTF had collected more than 700 Banners (running to 1.5 KM in length) from all over Taiwan.
In addition to Taiwan, many youth groups from India, Thailand, Canada had joined the "G-BAT Campaign" and organising / collecting Signature-Banners in their countries
As part of the above Global Campaign, many ROTARACT CLUBS (Youth wing of the ROTARY CLUBS) had come forward to spearhead the above Global Campaign in India, for which the Inaugural function was held on 14th Sep. 2008 - at the KAPV Medical College/Tiruchirapalli (Tamil Nadu - INDIA), with Collector of Tiruchirapalli as the Chief Guest..
Sir, now I request all friends across the globe, to kindly extend all possible cooperation and assistance for successful implementation of the above Campaign in all the Schools in city / county / country with your active involvement.
We hope, a word of response from your heart shall give us much more encouragement in our GLOBAL BATTLE AGAINST TOBACCO.
