Hi everyone !!

The New Media and Intercultural Dialogue Live Chat went very well !

We had some enriching discussions between the participants including myself and the guest speakers (Mai Ngo from CLC Canada, Saleem Al Habash, a palestinian living in the USA and Damian Profeta, Spanish Coordinator).

Damian Profeta said: Many youth express themselves in English because they think they don't have enough audience and visibility in their own language...

So, we tried to answer the question: How to approach your audience ?

My suggestion was to use the Internet especially Social Websites and to target the specific group, and also to talk about the issues that the youth in the group are passionate about.

Mai Ngo said: I think it's important for people to know their target audience, e.g., the race/class/gender and form presentations/information based on the needs of these particular groups.

Then, Saleem said: one of the basic challenges the Internet and the New Media poses is the abundance of information.

Damian believes that by promoting "meaningful" uses of technology, we can overcome this challenge.

Mai Ngo thinks that "we need to tailor things according to different youth groups".

And finally, Saleem who thinks that we need to understand how young people are using the Internet shared with us a Global Survey he is conducting about youth and new media.

All in all, I think everyone learned more information during the Live Chat especially with the participation of the guest speakers.

Thanks also to Tala who was the moderator of the Live Chat.
