INTRODUCTION

On 10th-12th of March 2009, Energy Crossroads Denmark will host the first of a series of regional events that will run on all continents throughout the entire 2009. Through these events we aim to unite the young generations of the world in a common effort to create a blueprint holding the opportunities to solve the energy challenges. We call this “Our Opportunity”, and it all begins in Copenhagen, where Energy Crossroads Denmark will gather the European coalition of students in an interactive summit where workshop activities will propel the process of generating the European chapter of the blueprint - finding opportunities in solving the energy challenges of Europe. With this blueprint we want to send a clear message; that we prioritize the climate and energy challenges and are ready to take urgent action – and that we want the current world leaders to do the same.

ABOUT
The European energy sector faces critical challenges in the future: fuel supplies need to be secured and greenhouse gas emissions reduced significantly while still maintaining a high level of economic growth. To shed light on different pathways towards achieving these goals and in order to create a blueprint based on dialogue, synergy and mutual understanding, the participants of the summit will work together and gather their ideas to unite the different stake-holders and regions of Europe to achieve 50% reduction of CO2 by 2025 in relation to 1990-levels and reduction of oil consumption by 50% in 2025 in relation to 2005 consumption levels. The blueprint will summarize the opportunities found. Note that we are not working on producing just a simple youth statement on climate change. Rather, we are helping in educating and empowering a new strong energy coalition.

PROGRAM
Our program features a unique game-play framework, where the participants will meet each other and discuss the challenges and solutions to the energy challenges. We will make sure to spark interesting debate by making each participant represent a different stakeholder - each with his or her own interest to safeguard.

The aim of the game is to find synergies and rethink the way that these stake-holders (that be firms, sectors and countries) currently work together, so that we may truly push on a united effort in reaching a clean, prosperous and secure future.
