The Department of Women's Studies Speakers' Series invites you to attend a presentation by Leisha Sagan, titled Bearing Witness and The Vagina Monologues. The play, The Vagina Monologues, written by Eve Ensler, began as a series of interviews with women. First performed in 1996, it has since become a performative piece that has evolved into a unique form of feminist consciousness-raising. This presentation explores, through interviews with cast members in St. John’s, NL, concept of bearing witness and the creation of collective memory in The Vagina Monologues.
