It's Global Education Week 2009 ~ kicking off this weekend with ReFrame ~ Peterborough International Film Festival, and culminating with the 28th One World Dinner: Food As Energy on Saturday, January 31st. And with a whole lot of great events in between. We hope you will join us!

KWIC Radio Show "Convergence" 7-8:00 pm
Jo Hayward Haines & David Geraldo explore water issues with global and local perspectives from Trent students, CUPE, Council of Canadians and Public Utilities Company.
Local guest singer/songwriter, Jan Laurie, will perform an original song about water. Tune in Trent Radio 92.7 FM. Live & Lively!
"New Season Coming" Free Film Screening 7:00 pm
KWIC Food Issues Working Group & Trent Central Student Association host this engaging short film & discussion about the local food movement in Kingston Ontario. Part of OPIRG Wed. Night Film Series.

Kawartha World Issues Centre: Open House, 11:00 am-2:00 pm
Interested in world issues? Want to make a difference? Drop by for a warm cup of local cider and great conversation. Find out how you can get involved! Hosted in collaboration with Sustainable Trent and Development & Peace. Environmental Sciences Building, Room B101 on East Bank, Trent University.
Indigenous Dinner 5:00 pm
Presentation about maize and seed diversity with Karl Fiander, followed by a light dinner at 5:30 in the Gathering Space, Gzowski College. Hosted by the Seasoned Spoon Café, KWIC and Trent Indigenous-Environmental Studies Department. Only 40 spaces.

World Affairs Colloquium Panel Discussion in the Lady Eaton College pit at Trent University. Speakers to include Charlotte Kennedy from Just Food program, Laura Jack from Peterborough Health Unit, and others.
Bottle it!! Maude Barlow & Sid Ryan 7:00 pm
Speaking tour on water issues hosted by Council of Canadians at Market Hall. There will be information tables with water display, theatre, taste tests and more.

28th Annual One World Dinner ~ 'Food As Energy'~ Doors Open @ 5:30 pm
Peterborough's 28th Vegetarian Community Potluck! Guest speaker: Professor Haroon Akram-Lodhi.
Everyone brings a vegetarian food dish with ingredient list to share with 4-6 people and a dish pack (plate, cutlery, cup and serving spoon.) No desserts please. Beverages for sale. All proceeds support global education and outreach in Peterborough area through KWIC, JSH, NCC and TISA. Tickets at the door: Suggested $10/family or pay what you can. St. Paul's Presbyterian Church Hall at Water and Murray Streets.
