About

Youth Empowered is a high-energy one-day event that engages and equips high school youth for action on global issues. Now in our fifth year nationally, we have events across Canada, including Winnipeg on February 17th, 2009.

This year YE is taking on the Global Food Crisis. Food prices have risen globally and close to a hundred million more are being pushed into poverty as a result. We will be focusing on the issues and what actions we can take to make an impact. Each YE participant will receive a special "Food Fight" action guide that will help them take action at their school and make a real impact.

YE features:
- workshops on global issues & leadership skills
- action planning
- fun, music, energy!
- a workshop for teachers to share resources and ideas on global education with our Global Education Coordinator Nany Del Col
- special guests from Tanzania, part of our Youth Ambassador exchange program

Important details

Cost: $25 per person. Includes lunch, snacks and conference materials.
Date: Tuesday February 17th 2009
Time: 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM (Registration begins at 8:00 AM)

Number of participants: Up to 5 students and one teacher (this may be flexible closer to the event date).
