Youth Empowered is a high-energy one-day event that engages and equips high school youth for action on global issues. Now in our fifth year nationally, we have events across Canada, including the Toronto region on February 26th, 2009.

This year Youth Empowered is taking on the Global Food Crisis. Food prices have risen globally and close to a hundred million more are being pushed into poverty as a result. We will be focusing on the issues and what actions we can take to make an impact. Each YE participant will receive a special "Food Fight" action guide that will help them take action at their school and make a real impact.

YE Features:
- workshops on global issues and leadership skills
- planning for local
- fun, music energy!
- networking workshop for teachers to share resources and ideas on global education with our Global Education Coordinator Nancy Del Col.
- guests from Tanzania as part of our Youth Ambassador exchange program

Important details

Cost: $25 per person for registration Monday Feb 19th, 2009. Includes lunch, snacks and conference materials.
Date: Thursday February 26th 2009
Time: 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM (Registration begins at 8:00 AM)
Venue: World Vision Canada, 1 World Drive, Mississauga (1st light north of Highway 401 and Hurontario/Hwy 10)

Final registration deadline: February 19th 2009

Number of participants: Up to 5 students and one teacher (this may be flexible closer to the event date)
