The Ayni Aynak Project is a Jordanian-Palestinian short film week and a youth-exchange for its filmmakers.Ayni Aynak is an Arabic expressions that means: "I see through your eye and you see through my eye", but also it implies that something is obvious and visible. Based on these different meanings that give its spirit, the Ayni Aynak Project seeks to be a space for the exchange of ideas, the creation of dialogue, and the encouraging of creativity and cooperation between it’s participants.
The project is organized into two complementary programs. The first is the screening of each participant’s film in Mohtaraf Rimal for Arts center in a public event, on 5 days. The second is a one-week youth-exchange between 10 Palestinian and 10 Jordanian filmmakers in Jordan.
The participants will share the experience of daily life by hosting each other in their homes (each Jordanian will host a Palestinian filmmaker). During the one week project, the participants will have the opportunity to exchange and discusses their respective points of view and share experiences and knowledge about being young filmmakers in their country through participating in activities organized around the Film Week such as roundtable, dialogue, gathering and meeting with professional in the film industry in Jordan.
The participants will also be involved in an Open Space Workshop and will have to create in groups a short movie about the Ayni Aynak concept. This week project wants to be the first step for a long-term Ayni Aynak Project that will continue and grow through other future activities and through the creation of a wider regional network of filmmakers and artists in the Middle East. |
