GLOBAL YOUTH FORUM MONGOLIA 2009

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia 9-14 June 2009


1. Background

The OYUNLAG-UILS Intellectual Development Support Association based in Ulaanbaatar was established in 2004. It is a non-governmental and non-profit making organization working to assist Mongolian youth in their development into active members of society, by providing social, educational, cultural activities. We organize different kinds of events such as conferences, seminars, workshops and forums about human rights, environment protection, poverty ect. It is conducts its operation under authorization by Ministry of Justice and Home Affairs of Mongolia. The Certificate number is: 4492 and register number is: RD1045857

Our NGO has bееn а participant of lots of international fairs and workshops and we know how the
best оnеs аге organized. We have bееn working in our market for 5 years and we know the demands of our people. Taking into account our experience and the best trends in world Exhibition making we are able to create the most favorable conditions for your fruitful work.

Participants of this forum can be of any nationality, religion, gender, from any country. The important thing is that the participant must be concerned about the topics listed below.

2. Objectives:

In 2009, the OYUNLAL-UILS will be focusing on creating more opportunities for interaction between international youth, on strengthening the Youth Dialogue internationally and on
providing international young people with a space for dialogue that would help improve
and ponder over present global issues

To encourage mutual understanding of cooperation in solving of global problems;
To enable young people to identify possible solutions to global challenges and to take
responsibility for their active involvement in solving them;

To encourage the active participation of young people in issues that concern the
aggravation of the living conditions of human beings;

To provide a space (opportunity) for young people to make an input to the institutional
process.



3. Topics:

Environmental protection & climate change
Reduce poverty, inflation
Decent work and unemployment
Public health policy and HIV/AIDS
Gender Equality


4. Duration:

June 9 - June 14, 2009 (6 days)

5. Venue:

- The International Children’s Centre (ICC) Nairamdal, Ulaanbaatar (http://www.nairamdal.mn )

6. Participants’ Profiles

300 young people from all over the world, due to the venue’s capacity we are unable to allow more people to participate.

Participants should:

be aged between 18 and 30 (outside of this age group will not be accepted);
be able to work in one of these languages English, French, German, Chinese, Russian
be interested in the topics discussed during the Forum;
be willing to attend 100% of the event;
have clear presentation skills and cooperation skills to work with other young people;
have openness and understanding to cultural, social, political, religious;
Participants will be selected on a gender equality and geographical balance basis.

7. Required documents:

Completed application form (attached)
An essay in English (A4 size 1pgs/ 800 words) on the following topic: “The Role Youth in Tackling Global Issues”
Passport or ID copy

8. Payment
The Forum organizer will issue you an official invitation letter and invoice once we already received and reviewed upon we received your application form. The Participant fee is USD$400(four hundred united states’ dollars) per person (excluding money transfer fee). All payment should be made by bank transfer once we already accepted you as a participant. We do not accept credit card. Please make your payment in US Dollar. The one-time participant fee covers administration, workshop kit, 6 nights accommodation, and meals, local transportation, field trips, organized activities, a friendly airport greeting, an Global Youth Forum 2008 diploma and opening & closing ceremonies gala evening.
This fee DOES NOT include:

Travel expenses (international and domestic travel cost, visa, airport taxes, insurance and etc.).
Individual per diems.
Logistic expenses (shopping, private dinner, extension of stay, mini bar, laundry, phone call and fax, room services and etc.).
9. Deadline of Applications:

Interested parties should send the completed Participation Application Form attached
to the designated coordinators no later than 20 May, 2009



10. Visa:

Entry and exit visas are required of all non-Mongolian citizens, although due to bilateral
agreements made with some countries, this is not always the case (please check the Mongolian
Embassy or Consulate nearest to you).

Mongolian visa can be obtained at Mongolian Embassies, Consulates, Consulate Generals,
Honorary Consulates, or Trade and Permanent Missions abroad. You will need a letter of
invitation from your host organization. OYUNLAG-UILS will provide a letter of invitation for all participants after your registration form and fees have been obtained. Visas for longer
than 30 days require an authorized invitation from the Office of Foreign Citizens Issues in
Ulaanbaatar and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The following materials are required to obtain a Mongolia’s Visa:
1. Valid passport
2. One passport sized photo
3. Application form
4. Sponsor Letter from confident authority, unless otherwise stipulated in bilateral agreements, as
follows:
• For official delegation - Either an invitation of the receiving body (state, government, nongovernmental organization, business entity) or an official request in written by the sending
government or local authorities

When will the GYF 2009 take place?

Where will the GYF 2009 be held?

GYF 2009 will be held at The International Children’s Centre (ICC) Nairamdal is located in 27 kilometers from Ulaanbaatar city, capital of Mongolia, right at the border line of the Central Asia’s steppe desert and the mountain range of Siberia and Southern Baikal, 1520 meters above sea level. The centre occupies a territory of 2380 hectares, of which 700 hectares are covered with forest.

Who can participate to Global Youth Forum 2009?

Student, young people, NGO members, young scientists, sociologists can participate to GYF2009, with the condition of having age between 18 - 30 years old from all over the world

How do I register?

How much is the participant fee?

The Participant fee is USD$400 per person (excluding money transfer fee).

How can I pay the fee?

Do you provide scholarship?

We do not have available funding to provide participants with full scholarships. The available funding to provide a limited scholarship in reducing your forum fee. Please keep updated with this website.

Does the fee include insurance?

No it does not. We recommend you buying insurance at your countries.

How will I be accommodated?

You’ll be accommodated randomly; we’re trying to mix the nationalities. However, of course we are open for your suggestions, in case you’d like to be with somebody specific in the room. Either way, once you’re accommodated it is possible to change the room, just notify us about it.

Is it necessary to participate in all events during GYF2009?

Yes, it is!

Do I receive an evidence of my participation to GYF2009?

Every participant is going to receive a participation diploma.
