Join USC Canada for this unique film journey to the spectacular nation of Nepal with Canadian music icon, Bruce Cockburn. Returning after his first visit 20 years ago, Cockburn travels to Humla, a remote region nestled in the Himalayan Mountains where USC’s Nepali partners have been working for years.
While many things have changed, much of life here is as it has been for centuries - farmers still work the steep mountain slopes and live in isolated villages connected only by an ancient network of footpaths.
“One of the things that characterizes people living in difficult conditions is a very well-developed sense of how dependent we humans are on each other,” says Cockburn. “There’s a sense of community that is beyond anything that one encounters in the developed world.”
Return to Nepal is a revealing glimpse at this little-known corner of the world whose people have much to offer: strategies for survival in a tough land. The film begins at 7:30 pm (Doors open at 7:00 pm) and will be followed by a reception with snacks and music at 8:15 pm. Admission is free. Download the event poster, and share it in your community.
This film screening is organized by USC Canada - a social justice organization that promotes vibrant family farms, strong rural communities, and healthy ecosystems around the world.
