I am planning to visit the “Nork Boarding-House” nursing home in my town-Yerevan, with an aim to see our senior citizen’s needs, who are lonely, sad, in despair, to see how can WE change their everyday life.
I named my project “P&HinC” (Peace and Help in Community), because that’s what I see- PEACE and HELP for others, for those who are in need.
By visiting “Nork Boarding-House” nursing home, where live about 230 elderly people, first of all, we plan to entertain them, to make a “special holiday” which of course will have a follow-up in the future. Exactly, the participants of the project will write some kind, gentle greeting letters, we will hold a little afternoon event, sort of ceremony to read some poetry, dance, ask them teach us theirs, get a group together to sing, etc. A snack table with fruits, tea/coffee, sweets, home- made cakes, cookies and pastries will be organized, we plan to buy for them games like chess, “shashki” cards, dominos, CDs and DVD’s. Besides, our nursing homes are always in need of house holding and hygienic supplies like bedding, sleepers, shampoos/soaps, pajamas, napkins and so on. Some of the hygienic supplies from “Olivia” brand will be provided by “Auto-Rossi” Ltd valued at 180 USD. A full clean up will be provided by “Cleaning Service” valued at 150 USD. I also plan to organize a fund raising in my University (European University) with the help of my friends and other students valued at about 60 USD.
Date will be 26 Saturday, 2009.
Location: 197a, A.Armenakyan Str., Nork Yerevan 0047, Republic of Armenia.
The project involves 20 people, of which 10 are Flex alumni of different years and 10 people are my friends, and some students from the University.
I hope that this project will affect all the people of our community, making them notice not only their everyday problems, but people who are really in need and help them not once in a year but more often. I am sure that this kind of project and activities will have a follow-up. |
