Plan USA and YUGA host Youth Leadership Summer Camp
The week-long camp will bring together youth from all over the world.
Providence -It’s our pleasure to invite tell you about YUGA’s (Youth United for Global Action and Awareness) annual summer camp which will be held at Camp Aldersgate in North Scituate, Rhode Island from July 19-25, 2009. The YUGA leadership camp is a peer education program designed to help youth build their skills and gain in-depth knowledge on issues affecting youth around the world. The camp is open to all young people from ages 13-18 that are entering 9th – 12th grade.
YUGA camp will give youth the resources and skills they need to go back to their schools and communities trained and energized to tackle global issues. The cost is $250 and scholarships and financial assistance are available for those who qualify. This cost includes 6 nights of accommodation, 3 meals per day plus snacks, sports, crafts, swimming/boating, high ropes course and more.
Some of themes discussed during the weeklong festivities are leadership, team building, public speaking and more. The global issues include Poverty, HIV/AIDS, Climate Change/Environment and Child Exploitation, Fair trade, Community Organizing, Advocacy and presentations from international participants.
