| The Ratiu Center for Democracy, in cooperation with John D. Gerhart Center for Cooperation and Civic Engagement announces the call for applications for the third international edition of “Turda Democracy Gatherings”, a program aiming to guide youth from South Eastern Europe and the Arab World in developing an individual understanding of democratic values and behaviors by drawing on cross cultural perspectives. The program takes place between 18th of July 2009 and August, the 2nd, 2009 and consists of a “virtual component” based on discussions and readings that would prepare participants for the second part of the program; a 2 weeks summer camp in Turda, Transilvania(Romania). During the camp participants will have the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge in public participation and civic engagement through a series of workshops (media, advocacy and campaigning and critical thinking), lectures, debates on democracy and transition to democracy related topics and volunteer work. |
