Alexandria International Festival
October 2009
The biggest event you will ever hear about in Alexandria.
Lets be the change we want to see.
The proposed International Festival will comprise intellectual, cultural, civic, youth-related and sporting events, all of which will link to the city and its two thousand three hundred year heritage. The festival will extend over about nine days offering a range of activities greater than that which the city or the Bibliotheca Alexandrina have hitherto offered at the same time.
The Festival will set out to re-introduce the city of Alexandria to the world community, using the strength of its long history and its unquestioned capability led by its new world class global library and energetic city leadership to embrace the challenges of the 21 century. It will set out to attract to Alexandria foreign visitors; Egyptians possessing holiday homes on the Mediterranean coast near the city; and its citizens both young and old. The Festival will include events to attract all those communities so that all can share the experience and excitement of living in a Festival City which offers a wide range of different activities. The event will seek to be inclusive so all these groups will wish to participate in the following year.
The Festival will set out to become a major feature of the Egyptian and Mediterranean calendar. We are confident that all this is possible and we show here how we do this.

The Festival will use the following themes:
Egypt’s window on the world and the world’s window on Egypt
