Africa has been traditionally tagged as a continent of war, diseases and poverty. Well, in our opinion, lack of peace begets the rest. In response to this worldwide problem, we are organizing a Peace Caravan that will touch all corners of Africa beginning with the south, and eventually, the whole of the world. Our message? Without peace, both internal and external, there can be no meaningful development in the world. We are our brother's keepers and it is therefore our responsibility to ensure that our neighbours well being is not disrupted by our actions.
The target group is the youth, because we believe that the power to change the current situation, lies with them. All are welcome, though the age limit is 21- 35.
The culture of peace is a way of life in which mutual respect produces social integration. There can be no peace if the respect for the other’s rights does not prevail. There can be no peace unless true justice prevails among persons. Outside pressures dominate and corrupt our leaders to a point where the countries they lead lose their national identity, their basic condition of freedom, and their dignity, all elements that assist in resisting prevailing corruption.
Corruption is the most difficult and violent form of destruction because it affects the majority. It also translates into generalized violence and projects present destruction onto forthcoming generations. We, as citizens of a free world, constitute the determining factor for creating and producing social wealth. Together, we should all work toward the welfare and peace of all peoples of the planet by opposing the models that are imposed on us, with the strong belief that if we are able to use our own intellect and willpower we shall find our way out.
The way to a new culture of peace is the struggle to eradicate the sources of injustice, to provide for the main moral and political principles that constitute the basis of human life, the struggle to consolidate an attitude of solidarity among human beings without distinctions of any kind, with only the vision of happiness and tranquility that has governed the illusions of the many which have been constantly aggrieved by the few. It is a struggle, a never-ending struggle that we all must assume. The culture of peace must be a way of life in which justice shall always prevail.
By echoing the sentiments of Africa Union (AU) the founders envisioned a continent which is conscious of its potential and determined to exploit it, particularly by pooling resources; an Africa critical of its own weaknesses and geared to actively participate in global trade; an Africa which cannot afford to wait until tomorrow to have its problems resolved; and an Africa determined to offer to its peoples, basic goods and services at affordable prices. And the only way to do this by us pulling together our efforts and partner with like minded organizations to achieve an Africa that enjoys Peace and tranquility.
Service for Peace (SFP), the Youth Federation for World Peace (YFWP), the Universal Peace Federation (UPF), World Youth Parliament and Hope a Life International are pleased to inform you of the upcoming Celebrating Peace in Africa Caravan (CPAC). This is a Project of young Kenyans who came together to seek and promote peace, human rights, equal sustainable development and respect towards establishing a culture of peace in Africa in which everyone can live in freedom, harmony, cooperation, and co-prosperity for all through special Peace Caravan journeys. A project based on the promotion of peace between young people from Africa, in the participation of creating a better Africa. The Caravans will travel around Africa by road starting from East and Southern Africa, Eastern and Central Africa and lastly Eastern, Western and Northern Africa and stopping to meet young people along the way. We believe that peace begins with the inner peace fostered by service to others and that active cooperation provides the foundation and the real hope for peace.
Mission principles:
• Turn transformation into peacemaking.
• Build bridges and sustainable relationships among diverse groups of people.
• Reduce prejudice and discrimination.
• Encourage participants & partners to think globally and act locally
• Promote peace with a global perspective.
OBJECTIVES
CPAC upholds the philosophy that any problem faced by any community is a global challenge that must be tackled through cooperation between people, organizations and governments of the world. Changes in society can only come through the mobilization of people around particular issues, social action and building movements and through this are convinced that a horizontal, open, democratic and inclusive working system is a key factor for successfully facing the new challenges of the world.
Mobilization of volunteers is one of the key elements in building a broad social movement. Through these volunteer schemes, CPAC seeks to make the initiative accessible to people from all walks of life and strengthen activity in civil society.
CPAC believes that travel in itself can be a tool for positive social and political change, and seeks to create and implement best practices in responsible travel and what we call travel for peace and sustainability. Socio-political considerations rather than commercial interests will largely determine our choice of destinations. Our partnerships with local organizations and travel agencies will reflect our effort to utilize tourism in a progressive and educational form so as to contribute to global sustainability and peace.
We aim to showcase the uniqueness of Africa despite the challenges of poverty, war, crime, diseases, e.t.c. that our Africa heritage can be commended.
• Provide a foundation upon which to build a definitive vision of peace.
• A culture of peace through education, sports, arts, media, and service.
• Conflict prevention and resolution. |
