Media and Light artists are invited to take part in this unique cultural encounter in Alexandria, Egypt, for three weeks, from Sat the 24th of October to Fri the 13th of November, 2009
The workshop will take place at the Goethe Institute in Alexandria
The workshop will culminate in a three day, indoor and outdoor, shows of works produced during the workshop.
Workshop aims:
• Promote the values of cultural exchange through interaction and collaboration between artists from different backgrounds
• Present the participants with the chance/challenge to exchange and share their views and practices within a different cultural context
• Advance the use of new media tools by artists to express their creativity
• Engage with the local community through the use of more accessible means of expression
Main theme:
The proposed theme for this round of AMALA is “JUXTAPOSITION”, with emphasis on:
• Intercultural dialogue and exchange
• Arts and Society
• Local, National and Trans-national Culture
To maximize the benefit of this important gathering; critics, writers, poets, and cultural activists will pay informal visits to the workshop, and possibly collaborate with the participating artists as well, contributing to the richness of the workshop experience |
