The World Assembly convenes civil society, donors, government, business and media to act together to build a more just world! The Youth Assembly, immediately before the WA, brings together young people who are making changes in the lives of others.
The Youth Assembly offers a unique opportunity for young people to meet and work with other young people who are really making changes in the lives of others. It aims to bring together the world's most engaged, dynamic young activists in the field of social and civic justice
The innovative program emphasizes the delegates’ own expertise, knowledge and experience through establishing a fully participatory space of shared-learning. In this, the Youth Assembly makes a radical departure from the traditional conference style of panels of experts and Q&A sessions; moving towards an active and galvanizing approach where delegates not only develop knowledge of the issues covered, but also personal and shared capacity to take action.
The Youth Assembly recognizes the ability of young people to make change happen, and offers active and engaged young people from across the world the opportunity to come together, find connections with other young people and organizations - and through this exposure and engagement provide a supportive structure for ongoing, sustainable action globally.
The inaugural Youth Assembly was held in May 2007 and 150 young people participated from 66 Countries. The 2008 event took place immediately before the World Assembly from 16 - 18 June.
