Join Charity CHAMPS and other microphilanthropy organizations (TBD) in a lively discussion about youth and microphilanthropy! Participants will learn how they can make a difference with just a small amount of time and money, and learn more about the debates going on regarding the impact of microphilanthropy on the world.
Chat topics:
1. What is microphilanthropy
2. Impact of microphilanthropy ‐ small actions do add up, and microphilanthropy organizations
are growing at phenomenal rates, but there are definitely debates:
a. On whether microlending reduces poverty or not
b. On whether small actions are better or large ones
c. On whether involvement with nonprofits in small ways will lead to larger involvement in the future
3. How to get involved – what organizations are out there (like the ones listed at
http://charitychamps.wordpress.com/microphilanthropy-a-list-of-places-where-you-can-getinvolved-now/) ,and what types of actions they support, such as:
a. Click‐to‐donate
b. Petitions
c. Shop for good
d. Micro‐lending
e. Micro‐donations
f. Other (emailing, surfing the net, playing games, etc.)
4. Q&A and Discussion
a. What kind of microphilanthropies would you get involved in and why?
b. Do you think microphilanthropy has a positive impact on the world?
c. Open discussion |

Charity CHAMPS
It’s hard trying to become an everyday hero. You need money to donate, time to volunteer, effort to get started, and dedication to keep going. Until saving the world is an ingrained habit - until you utter mantras about stopping the world’s evil villains when you go to sleep - you are not...
