DetailsAbout
The Youth Assembly is an annual gathering of hundreds of young people from around the world who seek practical ways to contribute to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals, global networking and social entrepreneurship skills as well as meeting with and contributing to civil society formally affiliated with the United Nations.

The Youth Assembly is about showing how one person can make a difference by engaging with the challenges of the present and being an educated and active citizen.

The Assembly has grown to become a major gathering of young people as well as specialized, keynote speakers and workshop leaders at the United Nations. Each year, it provides avenues for students and young professionals (16-24 years old) to learn about and become involved with programs that address global and local issues, network among a large international group in attendance, and become engaged and empowered to take leadership roles in their communities.

Youth Assembly Overview

Three days at the U.N. Headquarters in New York

Plenary sessions, workshops, round table discussions, networking

Renowned speakers and expert workshop facilitators

600+ Young leaders like yourself from around the world

Related Leadership Seminars focused on training youth to design their own projects on the Millennium Development Goals

Special events include the Youth Achievement Recognition Luncheon, Campaign Night, Culture Night, and the United Cultures of Peace (UC Peace) Arts festival.

The goals of the Annual Youth Assembly are:

Provide access to and information about the work, successes and current challenges of the United Nations;

Promote increased youth participation in UN programs, its agencies and NGO affiliates

Strengthen commitment to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals;

Connect committed youth with opportunities, mentors, colleagues, and new associates;

Recognize the artistic and diplomatic efforts of young people already involved in development and humanitarian initiatives;

Promote renewal of a commitment to serve and respect this most important international institution.

At the Millennium General Assembly in 2000, all Heads of State created and unanimously agreed to work toward the accomplishment of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). But it is the people of each country that must come together to take action to see that these goals are achieved and that we can finally live in a New Millennium that we are proud to bequeath to future generations of all nations.

Why attend?

To learn about the United Nations and how you can become involved;

To hear great speakers and workshop leaders

To voice your opinions on the urgent issues of today and help make a permanent impact throughout the world;

To meet other dedicated young people from all over the world
