Re: What is your global education story? Jul 12, 2010
I don't have a global connection story in the sense that most iEARN youth here do, but I have
experienced many different TYPES of education systems, from my native Albanian grade 1 and 2
education, to a rather unconventional education in Greece, where I recall attending mass with my
classmates as a part of my schooling, to a vibrant and inspiring classroom atmosphere in San Diego,
California, where almost everyone spoke Spanish as well as English and I did not, to a typical
inner-city school in NYC, to a suburban middle school in New Jersey and finally to a vibrantly
multicultural high school in Toronto. I've kept in touch with many people from my education, and
I've been involved in international projects, with Free the Children and Invisible Children, that
have connected me to many issues around the world and made me truly a global citizen.
I'm inspired by everyone here at iEARN and sincerely amazed at all the cross-cultural and
educational projects on display and can't wait to hear all your stories!

Its quite an experience reading about youth and their experiences from around the globe. Well my
eduacation has been conventional but then again maybe not so as everyone has had such diverse
experiences. But since I have been educated in schools with a multi-cultural approach and with
students from different parts of the world some of who are still good friends and i'm in touch with.
I would just like to say its like opening a window to the world and the experiences one gains as a
child mould your personality in the coming years, it opens up your mind and makes you tolerant and
creates acceptance of diversity and change. I must say that I'm probably older than most students at
this forum but i'm glad i'm part of it. My experience has taken me to various places abroad and i've
interacted with students of different nationalities and their enthusiasm and spirit has always
impressed me, always willing to learn and know more and help others. I wish you all good luck for
future endeavours.
