National Youth Conference 2010
Civil Society Support Programme (CSSP) is rights based civil society organization aimed at “facilitating and promoting social transformation through civic engagement of the concerned citizens for a democratic society”. It envisions a responsible citizenry and proactive civil society.
In order to organize and engage youth in educational and broad based community development initiatives and civil society movements, a project on “Empowering the Voice of New Generation” was initiated in October 2009 with the financial support of National Endowment for Democracy (NED) and Commonwealth Foundation in Hyderabad and Mithi District Tharparkar, Sindh.
CSSP has been providing learning opportunities to 100 youth through training, seminars, dialogues, exposure visits, and meetings with scholars, writers, politicians, lawyers, social scientists, and researchers to have discussions on the basic issues of governance, democratic values, rule of laws, state and role of civil society, water and energy crisis, socio economic and political issues of Pakistan.
National Youth Conference 2010 is a mega event to be organized by the members of Voice of New Generation (VNG) in which delegations from all provinces of Pakistan will participate. The VNG members will also demonstrate a rally to raise their voices against social evils, undemocratic and violent acts, terrorism and social injustice
About the Conference:
National Youth Conference is a collective forum for VNG members, Civil Society Organizations and other stakeholders to provide the opportunities to youth to have interaction and dialogue with youth organizations, policymakers, public and private institutes, intellectuals, writers, journalists, and elected representatives. The conference will help in sensitizing youth about their increasing role in public affairs.
This is the first ever National Youth Conference to be organized by youth focusing the emerging role of youth in democratic development of Pakistan. The youth leadership from all provinces of Pakistan will represent the issues and concerns of their respective provinces. About 500 youth delegates and other stakeholders are expected to participate in the event.
Who can join the Conference?
The youth age 18-30, who desire to bring positive social change in their area and want to contribute in the youth movements. Entrance to all events is free of cost to enable broad participation by young people and the community at large scale.
Venue & Date;
The conference will be held on September 25, 2010 at Mumtaz Mirza Auditoriam, Sindh Museum, Qasimabad Hyderabad Sindh.
Scholarship
Limited quantity of sponsorships are available for youth who qualify as Youth Provincial Delegates, There will be only five qualifying delegate per province to ensure national diversity at the conference , the sponsorship will be provided to youth on pure merit basis. The sponsorships will include cost of transport (Lower AC Train/ Bus ticket only), accommodations and food at Hyderabad. The scholarships are available for all provinces except Sindh.
