We live in an incredibly diverse world, one in which countless cultures, religions and backgrounds all co-exist. For this reason, it is crucial to promote the concept of dialogue between people to address misconceptions or prejudices, to prevent conflicts and, most importantly, to foster a culture of peace and understanding.
As a young person, do you feel you have a role in promoting cross cultural dialogue? What are some of the steps you have taken to promote cultural tolerance and what results have you achieved? Do you think that the media can be biased in its portrayal of "Others"? Do you know how to harness the potential of new media ( social networks, blogs, podcasts, videos, etc) to promote dialogue between cultures and make your voice heard?
Share your views with us on this important topic during our Live Chat called “New Media and Cross-cultural Dialogue”! Join our special guests and other TIG members worldwide to share your perspective and thoughts on dialgoue and peace. It will also be a chance for you to learn how to use new media to promote acceptance from other active youth around the world.
The Live Chat is part of the “Youth For Change” program implemented by TakingITGlobal in partnership with Bibliotheca Alexandrina. To read more about the program, visit:
