IT WAS QUITE INTERESTING BECAUSE THE COURSE GAVE ME MORE VIEWS AND UNDERSTANDING ON THE CONTROL OF MALARIA AND IF POSSIBLE HOW TO ERADICATE IT.IT ALSO GAVE ME THE OPPORTUNITY TO CONTRIBUTE IN THE PREVENTIVE MEASURES AND HOW I CAN COVEY AND CARRY THE AWARENESS TO MY COMMUNITY.

I have to admit that the Course has made me develop a different approach of working out Malaria prevention and given me proper understanding on the need of unity of purpose with an aim of ensuring a sustainable approach to malaria.I am now well informed on the measures to undertake in developing sensitization campaign and malaria control program and look forward to conveying this information to the Community at large.

I did enjoyed the course. it was educative, recalled me of several things, i had to learn many new things and met others to share opinions.
One of the things that also stroked me was the organization of the course which was well done and the course coordinators who took time to select and evaluate valuable materials. I will like to suggest courses like this be passing time and again not only for malaria but for others illnesses and issues that are striking Africa and the world

I really think it was well worth it on the long run and I really thank the organizers for putting this course up and also for enrolling me in it. It has well broadened my scope and expanded my knowledge base on malaria and its relations. I hope we all can tap in from the knowledge and make a better impact in our communities and societies to get rid of mosquito populations and improve malaria control.

It was a very enlightening course. I learnt some very new things about malaria and the fight against it at the research center in Zambia. Though very gruesome and task oriented, I submitted few assignments due to timing. I hope to see more like it and other interventions. Well done to the Facilitators and Coordinator. Thanks and Best regards.

SUSTAINABLE APPROACH TO MALARIA CONTROL ECOURSE

By Udeze Ernest.

GYPAM has just concluded the maiden edition of its sustainable approach to malaria control ecourse, this ecourse is open to all African youths at home or in diaspora between the ages of 18-35 years.

This edition was particularly very informative and assumed to be the most challenging educational experiment on malaria in African soil, this is because while the participants were subjected to a compulsory flashback to their childhood experiences on malaria, traditional beliefs and folklores, myths and legends surrounding malaria in their various tribes, traditions and countries, it also provided a platform to uniquely integrate these exciting scenarios with the modern cross-sectoral approach to malaria control. Participants argued that the ecourse was invaluable and timely, motivating their innate consciousness to channel every available resources both human and material to the fight against malaria and other tropical diseases.

The course was aimed at

¤ Introducing a platform that will critic the efficiency or the inefficiency of trado-remedy to malaria and also to provide a forum that evaluates the need to incorporate these results to the modern malaria control approach.

¤ Re-examining the cross-sectoral approach to malaria control in Africa, and to suggest how to re-strengthen, modify and replicate these approaches for a better result.

¤ To reconfigure people's attitudes, social behaviors and values for a deliberate attack on malaria.

Participants were selected based on their ages, location and experiences on malaria and public health, and also on their pledges to transfer the acquired skills to their communities at large. Participants were selected from Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, Nigeria, Ghana, Togo, Cameroon, Somalia, Uganda, USA, and Sweden,
The free online course lasted for 3weeks, from Sept 22 to Oct 13, Certificates were awarded to successful participants and the next and subsequent editions promise to be better, the central cordinator Udeze Ernest assures that next edition will be able to admit more participants from all over the world. The instructors of the ecourse are seasoned professionals from Oxford University in UK, New Mexico Highlands University USA, and John Hopkins University in Baltimore, USA. The most remarkable among the instructors being Dr Shiff Clive, of John Hopkins Malaria Research institute, Baltimore.

Lots of parameters have been set aside for short and long time evaluation of the success of the ecourse.
Opportunity is now open for funding and partnerships from organisations, patriots, development partners and NGO's who see this move as a deliberate effort towards human capacity building and as an effort to actualizing a malaria free Africa. Let's team up and make this ecourse on Malaria more realistic and for more harvest of success.
