Creating Safer Spaces for Communities Working with Self-identified Girls and
Young Womyn
Greetings young womyn, frontline workers/service providers and
community! After much demand from our Networking Events, ZOOM in on
Girls & Young Womyn’s Meet-Up, we are having a Skill-building Event
focused on Creating Safer Spaces for Communities Working with
Self-identified Girls and Young Womyn facilitated by Wariri Muhungi.
Wariri Muhungi has been involved in community growth initiatives and
social justice work in various spaces. While her influences are
multifaceted, she is currently critically exploring multidimensional
ways that challenge mainstream approaches to implementing and designing
programs for communities including youth and specifically self
identified girls and young womyn as well as those who identify as trans
and gender non conforming.
WHAT: Skill Building Event on Creating Safer Spaces for Communities Working
with Self-identified Girls and Young Womyn.
The overall objective is to share tools, strategies, frameworks and
resources around fostering healthy and fruitful spaces when working
with a gender-oriented and anti-oppression lens.
Specific objectives are to:
• Explore concepts and practices that cultivate safer spaces when
working with self-identified girls and young womyn as well as those who
identify as trans and gender non-conforming;
• Create opportunities for knowledge sharing, networking and learning
through interactive activities;

awareness;
