Aim:
The aim of the conference is to give researchers, educators, teachers and other professionals of different domains concerned with Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) the opportunity:
to become more aware of the most recent trends on ESD;
to present, share and discuss research work, results and practices in the context of ESD;
to give a contribution to the world preparation of the United Nations Decade on ESD (2005-2014).
Issues:
We intend do deal with knowledge, values and skills, as well as methodologies for promoting Education for Sustainable Development. The following main topics will be addressed:
1. Ecological sustainability: nature and biodiversity conservation
2. Sustainable management planning: overcoming rural-urban dichotomy
3. Ethical issues for sustainability
4. Cultural diversity and cultural heritage conservation
5. Health and healthy lifestyles
6. Science, technology and sustainable development
7. Economic development and the fight against poverty
8. Peace, human rights, gender equity and democracy
9. Lifelong education, sustainable lifestyles and public participation
