São Paulo to host the Thematic World Education Forum, April 2004
From April 1st to 4th, São Paulo, Brazil will host the World Education Forum (WEF). The theme of this year will be Citizen Education for an Educative City.
The objective of the TWEF is to support the creation of a broad based movement in the defense of education, with the participation of the public, educators, student groups, labor unions, social movements, schools, universities, research centers, foundations, NGOs, and governmental organs.
We hope for the presence of more than sixty thousand people and the participation of various countries as occured in previous WEFs in Porto Alegre. The Organizer Committee will coordinate the creation of a final document that will put forward contributions for a world education platform.
More than 50 entities are allready participating in this process and working in comissions: Infrastructure, Communications, Themes and Methodology, Finances, and International Relations. Entities that are interested in becoming part of the Organizer Committee can participate in the weekly meetings at the TWEF headquarters The House of Planetary Citizenship, Rua Pedro de Souza Campos Filho, 289 Alto da Lapa (intersects with # 690 of Rua Cerro Cora), São Paulo. |
